After the creation of the modules on sustainable development by Marie, we braught 3 diferent classes in operation.
In the two first classes, we ran the project with 3 young members of Peace Child International with whom we will go deeper on sustainable development giving them an intercultural dimension (see the article: the beginning of the Youth Action Initiative).
In those two classes, we intervened in turn with the British. Indeed, in the first class, Marie and Eugénie ran a workshop on water which was composed of a questionnaire and research on the internet. During the afternoon, the creation of a photo novel in groups showing them on different subjects around the theme of water.
The children were very pleased to do those activities, even if the “informatics research” session was harder to organize (because of a lack of equipment), all of them learned a lot having fun at the same time.
During the second day, the British showed us their workshops, with the nice participation of Kezac who translated into French for the children, and also for the coordinators. The workshops which are made in England last one hour. They did several modules; on climate changes, energy use in houses, litters, and the ecological print with the discovery of India thanks to Preetam.
The childen liked very much the workshops, they enabled them to discover a lot. Several workshops were organized, which transmitted many information to the children. In normal circumstances, only one workshop is set in a class. The number and the accuracy of the knowledge approached didn’t prevent the children to have a nice time.
The following workshops were ran in March in Célia’s class, a workshop on garbages and 2 on the forest, games, drawings, and ail art (artistic creation sent by Post). These works were conducted by the children during the workshops. The aim was to make the children participate at the most and involve them in their apprenticeship
To see if our actions had an impact, we decided to organize one more session at the end of June. There, we ran games in forest and a questionnaire asking about all the stuffs we had approached during the previous sessions, but also new information.
This session shows that some information have made a lasting impression on the children and generated a change in behavior like switching off the light when going out of a room, turning off the water when brushing our teeth…
Our work had a definite impact on the children which encourages us to carry on and to perpetuate our actions.
